CALYPSO (Pacific Islands Fisheries Patrols) Series

Pacific Islands Fisheries Patrols. Operation CALYPSO and TUA MOANA are military operations employing naval ships, surveillance aircraft and government agencies deploying to the South Pacific Ocean to conduct defence diplomacy and enhanced maritime surveillance.

Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPV) HMNZS OTAGO and HMNZS WELLINGTON carry out patrols to detect and deter illegal fishing activity on behalf of Pacific Islands countries. The patrols are sponsored by New Zealand's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and ships and aircraft carry fisheries officers from the Ministry for Primary Industries and Pacific Island countries.
